Spider-Man Brand New Day Trailer Crosses 1 Billion Views — A Historic First for Any Movie

Must read

Hollywood has witnessed a marketing miracle: the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the first movie trailer ever to cross the one billion view mark. Launched on March 17 by Sony, the trailer achieved the record in just four days. It’s a moment that has never happened before in the history of film promotion.

In the 24 hours after its release, the trailer garnered 718.6 million views — a figure that shattered the existing record of 365 million held by Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl teaser. The previous Spider-Man franchise record, set by No Way Home’s trailer at 355.5 million views in a day, was also eclipsed. Even the massively popular Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, which had hit 475 million views in a day, couldn’t match it.

WaveMetrix tracked the total viewership and confirmed it exceeded 1.1 billion by Tuesday of that week. This places the Brand New Day trailer in a category entirely of its own making. No promotional video from any studio, game publisher, or streaming platform had ever crossed the billion mark before this.

Brand New Day opens on July 31 as a direct sequel to No Way Home, which earned $1.9 billion globally in 2021. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a cast headlined by Tom Holland and including Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. It is the fourth MCU Spider-Man film and will release in India across six languages.

The trailer reveals a heartbroken Peter Parker, forgotten by the world and navigating life without his loved ones. The emotional tone sparked massive fan engagement, with audiences coining poignant alternative titles like “Spider-Man: Far from Okay.” Brand New Day is positioned to be not just a massive box office hit but a defining moment for the MCU’s Phase Six.
