In Rome, Italy convened the second day of discussions for the Global Alliance on the Two-State Solution, gathering representatives from over 20 nations, alongside the Arab League, the European Union, the United Nations, and Palestine. This meeting focused on advancing efforts toward a sustainable peace in the Middle East.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani emphasized the significance of the event, noting that it, along with forthcoming negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, underscores Rome’s expanding influence in international diplomacy and peacebuilding initiatives. Tajani reiterated Italy’s commitment to supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state, but stressed that formal recognition should occur only when conditions ensure a peaceful and stable coexistence with Israel.

Tajani highlighted the necessity of mutual recognition, security, and dialogue as fundamental pillars for achieving a durable two-state solution. He expressed concern over the escalating violence in the West Bank, condemning the attacks carried out by Israeli settlers. Moreover, he opposed any expansion or annexation of settlements that might jeopardize peace prospects.

The participants of the meeting engaged in discussions aimed at reviving diplomatic negotiations and bolstering international cooperation to reach a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The dialogue underscored a collective commitment to reinvigorate efforts for a two-state solution, emphasizing the importance of sustained international engagement in the peace process.
