Iran, US Advance in Talks; Trump Weighs New Military Action.

Must read

As negotiations between Iran and the United States continue, both nations report a degree of progress, despite ongoing tensions that raise the specter of renewed American military strikes. Iranian officials indicate that the gap between the two sides has narrowed over recent days, with the primary focus being on achieving a broader ceasefire to ease regional tensions. According to Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the current talks prioritize ending hostilities, with nuclear issues slated for later discussion.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also acknowledged advancements in the diplomatic dialogue, suggesting that further developments may be on the horizon. The U.S. maintains a firm stance that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons, insisting on assurances regarding uranium stockpiles and the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has cautioned that any new attacks by the U.S. would provoke a more robust Iranian response. He also noted that Iran has restored parts of its military strength following weeks of conflict and a shaky ceasefire.

In the backdrop of these talks, Pakistan continues its mediating role, with its army chief conducting meetings with top Iranian leaders in Tehran. These discussions have been described by officials as constructive, with an aim to set up another round of direct negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

These diplomatic efforts unfold amid growing concerns over regional stability, global energy supplies, and the potential for further escalation in the Middle East.
