On the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial meeting in Manila, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held discussions with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide. The dialogue between the two ministers centered around enhancing the strong bilateral relations that have long existed between Oman and Norway.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both officials to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest. In their discussions, the ministers expressed a shared commitment to deepening ties and exploring new areas for collaboration.
Beyond bilateral matters, Sayyid Badr and Eide also exchanged insights on the latest developments in regional affairs. A significant focus of their conversation was the importance of reducing tensions in the region to maintain stability.
Particularly, they emphasized the critical need to ensure the uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic and global supply chains through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passageway for international trade. Both ministers underscored the necessity of de-escalation to safeguard this essential maritime route.
